Keyburst is a pay-once, local-first text expander browser extension. This policy explains what data the extension handles and why you can trust it with complete peace of mind.
⚡ Key takeaway:
All text shortcuts, triggers, and settings are stored locally on your device. We operate zero tracking servers and zero keystroke loggers.
1. Data stored on your device
- Your text shortcuts (triggers and expansions), custom tags, and preferences are stored locally in your browser using local extension storage in Chrome, Edge, or Safari (
storage.local). They never leave your device. - If you purchase Pro ($9.90 one-time), your license key and its local activation timestamp are saved alongside your preferences on your own machine (valid on up to 3 browsers).
2. Data sent over the network
- The extension makes no network calls whatsoever except during one optional action: validating a purchased Pro license against Lemon Squeezy's official licensing API (
api.lemonsqueezy.com). - No shortcut contents, keystrokes, personal notes, or browsing histories are ever transmitted.
- Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (our Merchant of Record). Payment credentials and credit card information are processed directly through their PCI-compliant checkout and never touch Keyburst.
3. What we never do
- Zero Telemetry: No analytics trackers, no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no PostHog.
- Zero Keystroke Logging: Keyburst only listens for your defined shortcut triggers and immediately clears its internal buffer upon matching.
- Zero Data Selling: We never sell, rent, or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Data retention and deletion
- Because your library exists exclusively on your local device, uninstalling the extension permanently wipes all locally stored data. You can also export a JSON backup at any time before removing.
